Showing Up

August 3, 2018

I was reminded today to believe the truth will suffice and to show up. We often get confused by what it means to show up for someone. In fact in the South it can get downright goofy, especially as women. We treat showing up as this tit for tat kind of effort. If you do something for me, I do something for you. It's really exhausting. This is where the truth part comes in. When we don't want to do something, for whatever reason, we tend to not tell the entire truth. We soften (ok), we dodge (sorta ok), and sometimes we lie (not ok). We think it's easier to make up a lie about being somewhere versus just saying, maybe not today. Think about that. This leads me into the real act of showing up for someone. Showing up means being there when someone needs you. It doesn't have to be a face to face, it can be as simple as a text. Sometimes our lives condition us to feel tired, or disconnected which doesn't allow us t to show up for others. I promise you, if make a little extra effort to show up for others you will have the strength you need to connect at the right level (text, phone call, etc). The truth to living is in our connections to others, nature, and ourselves. Be truthful and show up for the ones you love. That being said, please pick appropriate times. Texting loved ones at 2am, even to tell them you love them, is not advisable. Love and Namaste!
